Class-A Office Building: The Global Water Center is located at 247 W. Freshwater Way in Milwaukee's historic fifth ward. The building is within walking distance of the Third Ward, downtown, and blocks away from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. The historic, 98,000 square foot, seven-story building was originally constructed in 1904. The building has been completely renovated and features exposed timber ceilings, exposed support beams, and excellent views of downtown Milwaukee. The building's tenants include The Water Council, A.O Smith Corp., Badger Meter, Veolia Water North America, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, UW-Whitewater, and others. This building's redevelopment serves as a catalyst for the development of the Reed Street Yards, which has been designated by the city of Milwaukee as a Water Technology research park. The research park will serve as a global showcase for water management.

The building's common area amenities, include a 44-person lecture hall, exhibition space for new prototypes and, most importantly, high-tech, shared, core facilities. The core facilities, such as a state-of-the-art water flow lab, are critical to supporting the cutting-edge water research and product development activities.

The project was led by The Water Council, whose mission is to make the Milwaukee Region the world water hub for freshwater research, economic development, and education. The Water Council consists of members from business, academia, and government working in collaboration to accomplish the mission and vision.
